International Conference on Waste
Management and Technology (ICWMT)
Since 2005, we have been focusing on creating the opportunity to share the ideas
and experiences on the management and technology of solid waste. For this
purpose, three International Conference on Waste Management and
Technology(ICWMT) have been held in May 2005, July 2007 and November 2008
seperately. ICWMT has become a great chance for specialists and officials to look
for partners. The 3rd ICWMT attracted 239 participants from 23 countries, as well
as 3 bodies of United Nations. Participants were provided chance to expound
his/her opinion and comments in concerned fields and a memorable gathering was
left. During the 3rd ICWMT:
We shared the output of Regional Workshop on E-waste Identification
toward the Prevention of Illegal Transboundary Movement for Hazardous
Waste and Other Wastes in Asia
The development of management and technology on solid waste disposal and
recycling in China were discussed in the Academic Forum of the Solid
Waste Branch of Chinese Society for Environmental Sciences.
In the Industry Forum of Solid Waste Treatment and Recycling , we went
into the details of practical experience in China, and tried to find the way to
push it developing healthily and smoothly
In the High Level Forum of Sino-Dutch Waste Environmental
Management, we shared the experience of waste management in the
Netherlands and got the information of waste management projects in China
and Netherlands.
We are proud that the conference attracts famous experts and scholars to give
presentations and share their knowledge with other people. Please take time to

Welcome to the 4th ICWMT
To promote the exchange of knowledge and experience among international
experts, and to enhance the technology cooperation among the countries, the
International Conference on Waste Management and Technology is held
annually in Tsinghua University, Beijing, organized by Basel Convention
Coordinating Center for Asia and the Pacific (BCRC China). This annual
conference has become a stage for specialists and officials to discuss scientific
problems, to exchange experience, and to find innovative solution. The sparkle
of idea conflict and the achievement of participants may be recorded in the
conference proceeding. Numbers of participants from governments, research
institutions, universities, industries were attracted to the conference. The
coming 4th International Conference on Waste Management and Technology
will invite some of the most famous experts and government officers to give
keynote speeches focusing on the hot issues of solid waste. The coming
conference would also like to provide satisfying chance for all participants to
presentation and communication. Papers related to the following aspects are

Call for Papers
Every author can submit two papers at the most. It is strongly recommended
you to submit online on our website. But also, you can send it to
icwmt@tsinghua.edu.cn. Each abstract should be limited to 300 words. Please
get more information in http://conf.bcrc.cn
Papers presented at the Conference will be reviewed and recommended for
possible publication in some excellent SCI/EI journals after conference.

Presentations
English is the working language of the conference. Simultaneous interpretation
in English and Chinese will be offered for keynote speeches.
Oral Presentations: Each oral presentation will be allocated 15 minutes and 5
minutes for questions. The speaker should bring a PowerPoint file for
presentation.
Poster Presentations: Poster sessions will be on Nov.19th. Posters will be
displayed on frame of 90cm high, 120cm wide. You could assemble your
poster at the conference which must measure up to the standard size.
